EASTHAM — Nauset High School fall sports officially got under way this week with volleyball, boys and girls soccer, golf, field hockey, and boys and girls cross country all in action.
Junior Jack Martin shot a 2-over 38 to lead the golf team to a 254-278 victory over Cape Cod Academy on Tuesday at The Captains Golf Course. Sophomore Max St. Aubin carded a 3-over 39, while senior Sean Kipperman and sophomore Chris Ross both shot 43.
Nauset boys soccer began the year on Tuesday with a 3-2 win at Dennis-Yarmouth. Senior Charlie Cushing scored a brace, including a spot kick, while sophomore Omari Perry added a goal. The Warriors hosted the Nauset Clash Tournament — a preseason event with eight of the top teams from across New England — on Saturday and went 2-1, with wins over Hingham and Duxbury. Girls soccer, meanwhile, kicked off the season with an emphatic 6-2 win at Pembroke on Tuesday.
After tuning up with a series of games at the Barnstable Play Day, volleyball opened the calendar with two games on the road at Nantucket. The Warriors dropped a close game to Frontier Regional before falling to Nantucket. They played Sturgis West on Wednesday in Hyannis.
Field hockey and boys and girls cross country were scheduled to face Bridgewater-Raynham and Sturgis East, respectively, on Wednesday.
