EASTHAM — Parents, coaches, and teammates turned out on May 25 to celebrate the 19 Nauset High seniors who have committed to continue their athletic careers in college.
“It’s a huge commitment and we’re proud of all of them,” said Nauset Athletic Director John Mattson.
Raven Bennett (Franklin Pierce football), Andrew Berardi (Babson lacrosse), Jackson Dalmau (Mass Maritime lacrosse), Kaylee Davis (Mass Maritime softball), Nico Harrington (UMass Boston basketball), Colton Higgins (Mass Maritime soccer), Tim Johnson (Bates swimming and diving), Ceci LaBarge (Tufts track and field), Duncan Lowery (Bridgewater State baseball), Cooper McIntire (Mass Maritime lacrosse), Quinn Mucha (Mass Maritime lacrosse), Amanda Paine (Simmons lacrosse), Grace Harris (Plymouth State softball), Amelia Stevens (Union field hockey), Myles Santos (Mass Maritime football), Jillian Parrot (Mass Maritime softball), Kerry Farrell (Ithaca golf), DeJorno Davis (Keene State soccer) Dillon White (Bridgton Academy football), and Pete Murphy (Worcester Academy) were all recognized.
Bennett, who played on both the offensive and defensive lines for the Warriors football team, committed to the highest level of collegiate athletics in this year’s senior class. He will head to Division 2’s Franklin Pierce in New Hampshire.
“I’ve learned so much from sports and about having goals and always working towards something,” he said. “That’s kept me going.”
“The coaching staff at Nauset respected everyone and treated everyone on the same level,” said Harrington. “I want to treat people how I want to be treated, and that’s one of the biggest things I’ve learned from them.”
LaBarge, who was swarmed by her teammates at the table set in front of the patterned Nauset Warriors “N” logo backdrop, highlighted the support the coaches provided through her four years, where she was a standout in soccer, sailing, and track and field.
“I think being part of the team at Nauset has prepared me well,” she said, “and I’m leaving a team that is so talented and has so much support from the coaches.”
