EASTHAM — The Nauset boys lacrosse and boys tennis teams both progressed to the Round of 16 in their respective MIAA Division 2 State Championships.
Seniors Quinn Mucha (3 goals, 2 assists), Cooper McIntire (4 goals, 1 assist), and Payton Kender (4 goals) led the way for the second-ranked Warriors, who dispatched No. 34 Wakefield Memorial on Sunday afternoon.
Classmate Andrew Berardi added a goal and an assist, while junior Riley Meehan tallied two goals. Senior Kevin Wright and sophomores Logan Poulin and Owen White each had a goal.
Kender struck at the 9:14 mark of the opening quarter before Wright made it 2-0 just 57 seconds later. Meehan, Poulin, and Berardi then all scored within 48 seconds of one another to give the Warriors a 5-0 lead with 4:10 to go in the first period. Nauset extended its lead to 14-0 by halftime and never looked back.
The Warriors were scheduled to play 18th-ranked Silver Lake Regional — a team they beat 17-8 back on April 21 — in the Round of 16 on Wednesday.
