EASTHAM — Nauset boys tennis stayed hot last week while boys and girls lacrosse picked up wins as the spring season kept rolling.
The boys tennis team improved to 5-0, blanking Falmouth at home on Friday behind the team’s number-one singles player Rufus McCleery. McCleery is unbeaten this season; he defeated his Falmouth opponent 6-0, 6-0.
Nauset boys lacrosse secured two wins over Falmouth and Groton-Dunstable on Thursday and Saturday, respectively. The Warriors beat the Clippers in a close contest, 12-10, with senior Andrew Berardi scoring four goals to go with an assist. Classmate Quinn Mucha added a goal and three assists, while Cooper McIntire tallied two goals for Nauset, which had eight different scorers.
They followed up that win with a 17-11 triumph over the Crusaders to improve to 5-1 on the season — their lone loss coming at Sandwich. Mucha tallied three goals and four assists, while Payton Kender had four goals and an assist.
Berardi and sophomore Logan Poulin each had a hat trick for the Warriors, who had nine different players record goals. Boys lacrosse traveled to Division I Xaverian Brothers on Tuesday.
Girls lacrosse, meanwhile, snapped a two-game skid to improve to 3-2 on the season with a 12-1 rout of Dennis-Yarmouth on Saturday morning. The Warriors, who had suffered back-to-back losses to Sandwich and Falmouth, jumped out to a quick lead after the opening faceoff and never looked back. The Dolphins spoiled senior goalie Alden Rogers’s shutout in the final minute of the game.
The Warriors softball team won a 20-19 thriller over Falmouth on Friday. The Warriors, who have won four straight after their season-opening loss to Sturgis, played Upper Cape Tech on Tuesday.
Nauset baseball suffered a third straight defeat, losing 2-1 to Falmouth in the team’s home opener at Eldredge Park on Friday. The Warriors stranded runners on first and third in the final frame. Baseball was scheduled to play at Marshfield on Tuesday.
The Warriors girls golf team notched a third consecutive win with a 5-1 victory over Barnstable at Captains Golf Course on Thursday. They improved to 3-1 with the lone loss this season coming to Monomoy.
Coed sailing lost 3-2 at Nantucket on Thursday to fall to 1-2 on the season.
Girls tennis had a three-game winning streak come to an end at the hands of Falmouth, falling 5-0 on the road on Friday.
