EASTHAM — Nauset boys and girls lacrosse and boys tennis all remained unbeaten during a busy week of action.
The boys lacrosse team overcame a two-goal first-quarter deficit en route to a 10-8 win over Catholic Memorial on Thursday. It was the second straight year they beat the Knights after winning in overtime at James R. O’Connor Stadium last season.
Nauset held a 5-4 advantage at halftime, and the teams went to the fourth quarter deadlocked at 6. Riley Meehan capped off a strong performance for the Warriors by making it 10-8 and the hosts held on from there. Senior attack Cooper McIntire continued his strong start to the season, scoring four goals. Nauset had seven different scorers in moving to a 2-0 record. Senior Andrew Berardi had two assists to go with his goal. Sophomore Zach Coelho made 15 saves.
The girls lacrosse team pummeled Plymouth South 15-3 on Thursday. Nauset jumped out to a 5-0 start and led 8-0 at halftime. Junior midfielder Coral Punch had five goals and three assists in the win. Both Warriors lacrosse teams were scheduled to play Sandwich on Tuesday.
Nauset boys tennis moved to 3-0 on the season with wins over Barnstable and Bourne on Thursday and Friday, respectively. The Warriors edged Barnstable 3-2 behind a strong 6-0, 6-1 performance from senior captain and number one player Rufus McCleery. They followed that up with a 4-1 home victory against Bourne.
The girls tennis team picked up its first win of the season, drubbing Barnstable 5-0 on Thursday, before claiming a 4-1 win at Bourne on Friday. They are 2-1 on the season.
Nauset baseball fell to 1-1, losing 11-5 at Duxbury on Friday. The Dragons used a grand slam and a bases-clearing double in the fifth and sixth innings to pull away from the Warriors, who played at Sandwich on Wednesday.
Warriors co-ed sailing fell 4-1 at Dartmouth to start the season on Thursday. The team raced against Cape Cod Academy at Orleans Yacht Club on Tuesday.
Nauset softball put up six runs in the first inning on its way to a second straight win, routing Nantucket 14-0 in just five innings. Senior catcher Grace Harris went 2-for-2 at the plate with two walks and a run batted in and scored four runs. Pitcher Kaylee Davis had two strikeouts and allowed just five hits in the shutout. Softball played Sandwich on Wednesday.
