EASTHAM — The Nauset boys and girls swimming and diving teams remained undefeated last week as they beat St. John Paul II High School at Willy’s Gym on Friday, Jan. 20.
The boys improved to 4-0 on the season with an 82-59 win, while the girls moved to 3-0-1 with a dominant performance, prevailing 90-57.
Meanwhile, at the Cape Cod Wrestling Invitational hosted by Sandwich High School on Saturday, sophomore captain Peter Silvernail of North Truro claimed bronze in the 285 weight class. He defeated Barnstable High School’s Will Robke 3-0 in 2:45.
Fellow captain Henry Rank, a senior from Eastham, also picked up a third-place finish by defeating Cody Phillips of Bellingham High School 2-1 in the 160 weight class.
Nauset boys basketball went 1 and 2 during a busy week that included a trip to Boston and the famed TD Garden for the 2023 Andrew James Lawson Foundation Invitational.
The boys enjoyed an 80-46 win over Sandwich High School on Friday before falling to Cape Cod Academy at the Garden on Saturday. The Warriors, who led 35-31 at halftime, were overtaken by the Seahawks after the break.
The Warriors led 44-40 entering the final quarter but were outscored 16-7 over the first five minutes to fall behind 56-51 at the 3:07 mark, and they were unable to recover despite getting within two points late. The final score was 64-55.
The boys then suffered a heartbreaking 65-62 defeat against Old Rochester Regional High School at home on Monday night. The Warriors broke open a four-point game with an 8-0 run to start the fourth quarter with a 58-46 advantage before succumbing to another late comeback by their opponent. Old Rochester would outscore Nauset 19-4 over the remainder of the period to win the game by 3 points.
Nauset girls basketball endured a tough 58-26 defeat on the road at Sandwich on Friday.
The Cape Cod Furies bounced back from Wednesday’s defeat to Falmouth High School with a convincing 9-1 victory over Nantucket at the Nantucket Community Ice Rink on Saturday. The Furies were scheduled to host Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School on Wednesday afternoon.
Boys hockey was back in action after a week-long break on Wednesday when they faced Sandwich High School.

Boys and Girls Swimming: Nauset returns to Sandwich for day 2 of the Cape and Islands Diving Invitational, starting at 4 p.m.
Boys Hockey: Nauset plays Monomoy Regional High School at Tony Kent Arena at 4:30 p.m. in the first of back-to-back road games.
Girls Hockey: The Cape Cod Furies are in action at Charles Moore Arena against Sandwich High School. Game time is set for 5:15 p.m.
Tuesday, Jan. 31
Girls Basketball: The Warriors are on the road at Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
Boys Basketball: Nauset faces Dennis-Yarmouth at home at 6:30 p.m.
Wednesday, Feb. 1
Boys Hockey: The Warriors look to avenge one of their losses when they travel to the Hyannis Youth and Community Center for a 6 p.m. faceoff with Barnstable High.
