EASTHAM — The Nauset High cross country team had a strong showing at the Division 2 State Tournament as the Warriors’ fall sports season nears its end.
Sophomore Madeline Mahoney set a personal record of 19:04 to pace the girls team with a third-place finish in the 5,000-meter Division 2A race at Stanley Park in Westfield, while junior Will Crowell also ran a personal best of 17:12. Both qualified for the All-State Tournament.
The boys came in 15th overall with a team score of 431 at the event, which was won by Burlington High School.
Nauset’s number-22 seeded boys soccer team saw its season end last Thursday, when number-6 Melrose played to a 1-0 victory in the Division 2 State Tournament Round of 16. The Warriors ended their season with a 14-5-1 overall record.
Nauset’s football squad beat Medfield 20-0 last Thursday to improve to 6-4 on the season ahead of the traditional Thanksgiving Day showdown at Dennis-Yarmouth High School.
Junior running back Logan Daniels Julien had 16 carries for 142 yards with one touchdown. Freshman quarterback Brendan Peno, who was 7 of 11 for 65 passing yards, connected with Owen White for a touchdown. Junior defensive back Evan Archer, meanwhile, returned an interception for a touchdown in the win.
