EASTHAM — The Nauset Regional High School boys lacrosse team won its ninth straight game, defeating Falmouth 13-5 on May 26, to finish the season with a 16-2 record. Andrew Berardi led the way with nine goals and two assists, bringing his points total for the season to 102 (71 goals, 31 assists).
The Warriors head into the Div. 2 State Lacrosse Tournament at 15th in the power rankings, with their opponent in the first round still to be determined.
Nauset baseball split a pair of games to close the year with a 13-7 record, defending the team’s Cape and Islands Atlantic Div. crown in the process. Cam Beer pitched a complete game while Pete Murphy had two RBIs, and Max Dio hit a three-run homer to lift the Warriors to a 5-3 road win over Plymouth South on May 25. The Warriors then fell to Div. 1 Lexington 7-4 in the regular season finale on May 28.
The team now turns its attention to the Div. 2 State Baseball Tournament, where it currently stands at 13th in the power rankings.
The Warriors’ girls lacrosse team failed to make it three straight wins in a 10-4 loss to Falmouth on May 26. Nauset was scheduled to host Dennis-Yarmouth on Tuesday for Senior Day.
Paytah Dill ran his 400-meter hurdles race in 1:00.27 to finish in third place for the Nauset track and field team behind winner Ben Coviello of North Middlesex Regional High School and William Vasquez of Medfield at the Div. 4 Track and Field Championship.
The Nauset boys and girls tennis teams enter the Div. 2 State Tournament ranked 24th and 35th, respectively. The boys are riding a six-match winning streak, with the latest triumph a 3-2 win over Monomoy to finish the year with a 14-4 record. The Nauset girls, meanwhile, slipped to 9-9 following road losses to St. John Paul II and Wareham.
Nauset softball couldn’t overcome one-loss Sturgis East on Senior Day and also fell to Wareham on the final day of the season to end its campaign with a 6-12 record.
The state tournament schedules will be announced this week.
