EASTHAM — Three boys and eight girls from Nauset High’s swimming teams competed in the South Sectionals at Milford High School over the weekend.
Among the boys, senior John Szucs finished 23rd with a personal best time of 1:00.02 in the 100-meter backstroke, while freshman Keith Gagnon finished 30th in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:07.57. Sophomore Will Crowell finished 25th in the 100 freestyle with a time of 53:41.
Four Nauset girls competed in the 100 backstroke. Senior Kaitlin Bohannon finished eighth with a time of 1:02.25, sophomore Nina Mako finished 13th with 1:03.53, senior Brynn Morris was 21st with a time of 1:06.28, and freshman Isabel Colella finished 25th, coming in at 1:08.63.
The 200-meter freestyle relay team of Morris, Bohannon, Mako, and eighth-grader Laura Kaser was good enough for sixth place with a time of 1:47.45. Mako also finished 10th in the individual 100 freestyle with a time of 57.80.
Only the statewide competition is left for the individual swimmers.
The boys and girls hockey teams and the boys basketball team are all fighting for playoff spots with just a few games left in the regular season.
Friday, Feb. 18
Boys basketball: It’s Senior Night for the Warriors as they take on the Dennis-Yarmouth Dolphins at home at 6:30 p.m.
Girls basketball: Nauset travels to play Dennis-Yarmouth at 6:30 p.m.
Saturday, Feb. 19
Boys basketball: Nauset will play against Plymouth South in the Winterfest Tournament at Monomoy Regional High School at 2:30 p.m.
Boys ice hockey: Nauset hosts St. John Paul II at Charles Moore Arena in Orleans at 4 p.m.
Girls ice hockey: Following the boys’ game, the Cape Cod Furies host Pembroke High at Charles Moore Arena at 6 p.m.
Sunday, Feb. 20
Girls ice hockey: The Falmouth Clippers host the Furies at Falmouth Ice Arena at 2:20 p.m.
Monday, Feb. 21
Boys basketball: The Warriors continue play in the Winterfest Tournament at Monomoy High against an opponent TBA.
Tuesday, Feb. 22
Boys ice hockey: Plymouth South comes to Orleans to play Nauset at Charles Moore Arena at 4 p.m.
