Max and Marissa Beal announce the birth of their son, Mason James Beal. Mason was born at Cape Cod Hospital on March 17, 2023 at 7:26 in the morning — a full week later than expected.
The baby weighed in at a healthy 7 lbs., 9 oz. and measured 21 inches. He was ready, his father said: “Right off the bat he was wide-eyed, looking around and taking everything in.” Mason’s eyes are blue, like his mother’s, and he has a dimple on his chin.
The baby’s mother is originally from New York, but his father grew up in Provincetown where he went to school and played basketball for the Fishermen. Max is a chef and Marissa is a bartender; the two met when Max worked a few shifts filling in at the Jailhouse Restaurant in Orleans. The couple now live in Yarmouth Port but have many friends in Provincetown.
Proud grandparents are Donald Beal and Khristine Hopkins of Provincetown and Marsha Davies of Yarmouth Port.
Mason joins canine family member Henry, a 90-lb. boxer-terrier mix of a rescue dog, who seems very happy with recent developments. Henry is gentle, though he guards Mason’s crib, said Max: “They are already very good friends.”
Since Mason’s birth, his father said, “We pretty much all spend a lot of time staring at each other.” —Teresa Parker
