Keagan Lee Hegg was born on July 29, 2023 at Cape Cod Hospital to Kyle and Kaitlyn (Silva) Hegg of Dennis Port. She weighed 7 pounds, 3.3 ounces and was 20¼ inches long.
“She is the most easygoing baby ever,” Keagan’s mother said. “She had to be, because she’s the youngest of four. She just goes with the flow.” Her siblings are excited about her arrival: “There’s a competition of who gets to hold her next,” said her mom.
Keagan’s brothers and sister are Kamron, 11, Konnor, 6, and Kennedy, 2. The family dog’s name is Kleo. Kyle’s mother was Kim and her family’s given names all started with K.
“We wanted to carry on that tradition,” Kaitlyn said. “But Kyle is Irish, and in Irish ‘Keagan’ means ‘descendant of the fiery one.’ ”
The baby’s maternal grandparents are Paul and Karen Silva of Provincetown; her great-grandmother is Tina Costa of Truro. On her father’s side, the grandparents are Frederick and Danielle Hegg of Marstons Mills.
Kaitlyn graduated from Provincetown High School in 2013 — the school’s last high school class. With a master’s degree from Boston College, she now is a social worker in the Sandwich Public Schools.
Kyle was born in South Carolina but grew up in Marstons Mills and went to Cape Cod Tech. After driving trucks for various companies, he is now studying engineering at Arizona State University.
So far, Keagan’s favorite activities are sleeping and eating. —Edward Miller
