WINDMILL WEEKENDOnce Upon a Time There Was a Parade By Nancy Bloom Sep 14, 2022 Desiree Cole, the Cowardly Lion, and Josiah Cole, the Tin Man, put together the COLEwebdev float with their daughters, Stella as the Scarecrow and Sophia as Dorothy. They won second prize. The veterans float, organized by Lou Andujar, sported flags from many places around the world. The Queen of Hearts and the Cheshire Cat floated to first prize in this year’s parade. Seamen’s Bank main office branch manager Samantha Rose is the queen, right, and Isabelli Andrini, daughter of the bank’s vice president of IT Michael Andrini, is wearing the cat’s grin. Local Scouts joined in, including Ana Maldacker, left, of Eastham Troop 183 and Daniel Bean from Troop 83. Wyatt Blakesly’s Eastham Cub Scout Pack 83 flag is seen in the back. Jamie Demetri wore a crown fit for the chair of the select board, and so did the driver, her dad, James Demetri. They shared third prize with the Paddle Cape Cod float. Cape Cod’s Highland Light Scottish Pipe Band blew through town for the occasion. The Henson Family float’s mad tea party scene was the day’s grand prize winner. Lauren Newman, left, and Charlotte Henson were on board with bubbles. A 1938 Packard 120 fit this year’s “Once Upon a Time” theme.
