WELLFLEET — The annual Sonny Roderick Billingsgate Basketball Tournament is returning to town this year after a two-year pandemic hiatus.
This year’s tournament will be a little different than in past years, however. Normally, five-on-five games would be played at Nauset Regional High School or Wellfleet Elementary School over the course of a spring weekend.
This year, the tournament consists of three-on-three games to be played on one day, Saturday, May 14, at the Mayo Beach basketball court in Wellfleet. Games will begin at 11 a.m. Teams may have up to five players on their rosters but only three may be on the court during a game.
The tournament has been going for more than 20 years and is sponsored by the Wellfleet Recreation Dept.
Boys and girls are welcome to enter the middle school or high school divisions. There is an adult division as well. The cost is $60 per team and the deadline to register is Monday, May 9.
Contact James Luster at 508-246-6900 or Wellfleet Recreation at 508-349-0314 to register, or visit wellfleet-ma.gov/recreation. Team T-shirts will be supplied by the recreation dept.
