Piper Springsong Dinwiddie was born at home in Brewster at 4:53 p.m. on April 1, 2022, just two and a half hours after her parents started timing contractions. She came into the world with determination and grace on an early spring afternoon complete with showers, sunshine, and rainbows.
Piper’s parents are November Sky Freyss-Cole, who grew up in Wellfleet, and Lucas Z Dinwiddie, from Orleans; they own and operate Halcyon Farm in East Brewster.
Piper’s prenatal and postnatal care have been supported by the BirthMatters Midwifery Care team and nurse-midwife Jodi Belson, the medical director for women’s health at Outer Cape Health Services.
Piper’s maternal grandparents are Anne Freyss and Ch Cole of Wellfleet, and her paternal grandparents are Carm and Bruce Dinwiddie of Orleans.
Piper has spent the last three weeks easing into life on the outside. She loves hanging in the kitchen on sunny afternoons, snoozing on her parents’ chests, and movement of all kinds.
