EASTHAM — Nauset swimmer Kaitlin Bohannon qualified to compete in the Sectionals tournament in the 200-meter individual medley and 50-meter freestyle by virtue of her performance at the Warriors’ meet against Sandwich on Jan. 6. Bohannon also qualified for States in the 100-meter backstroke.
Nina Mako qualified for Sectionals in the 100-meter breaststroke and for States in the 100-meter butterfly. The Nauset girls 200-meter freestyle team of Bohannon, Mako, Alexia Colella, and Brynn Morris qualified for States as well.
The Warrior girls defeated Sandwich 116-66 while the boys team won 86-68.
Also on Jan. 6, Nauset Chess split a doubleheader with Martha’s Vineyard. Freshman Joey Smith, winner of Nauset’s schoolwide Miles Tibbetts Chess Tournament in November, won both his individual matches.
Boys basketball suffered its first two losses of the season, bringing the team’s record to 3-2. The first was a 55-48 loss against Plymouth North on Jan. 5, followed by a 65-61 home loss to a tough Cape Cod Academy team on Jan. 10. Cape Cod Academy is now 4-0 on the year.
Thursday, Jan. 13
Boys and girls swimming: The Nauset swim teams host a meet against Nantucket at Willy’s Gym in Eastham.
Friday, Jan. 14
Boys and girls swimming: The swim teams compete in the Cape & Islands Diving Invitational at Sandwich High School.
Girls basketball: The Warriors play at home against Tantasqua Regional High School at 5 p.m.
Saturday, Jan. 15
Boys wrestling: Nauset competes in a meet against Cohasset and Bristol Plymouth Vocational Technical High School at Cohasset High School beginning at 9 a.m.
Girls ice hockey: A co-op team of Marshfield, Oliver Ames, and Foxboro comes to Charles Moore Arena in Orleans to take on the Cape Cod Furies at 6 p.m.
Monday, Jan. 17
Boys ice hockey: The Nauset Warriors and Dennis-Yarmouth Dolphins compete for the Codfish Cup at Tony Kent Arena at 5:45 p.m.
Girls ice hockey: The Furies also travel to Tony Kent Arena to compete against D-Y for the annual Codfish Cup at about 7:55 p.m., following the boys’ game.
Tuesday, Jan. 18
Boys and girls indoor track: Martha’s Vineyard and Nauset track teams compete in a meet at Wheaton College at 3:30 p.m.
Girls basketball: Barnstable High hosts Nauset at 5:30 p.m.
Boys basketball: Nauset hosts Barnstable at 6:30 p.m.
Wednesday, Jan. 19
Girls ice hockey: The Furies take on Old Rochester Regional High School at Gallo Arena at 7 p.m.
Boys ice hockey: The Falmouth Clippers travel to Charles Moore Arena to face off against the Warriors at 7:40 p.m.
