EASTHAM — After finishing third in the Division 2 South Sectional tournament with a team score of 305, the Nauset Warriors golf team placed 11th out of 13 teams in the Division 2 state tournament with a team score of 350.
In the sectional tournament, the Warriors’ 305 was just six points shy of first-place Bishop Stang High School in North Dartmouth, which posted a 299 at the Easton Country Club. In the state tournament, Bishop Stang captured first place again by posting a score of 305 at Sandy Burr Country Club in Wayland.
Freshman Jack Martin, who has been a strong golfer for the Warriors all season, posted an individual score of 76, just four over par, at the state tournament. That was good enough to tie for 15th place. Nauset senior Cooper Guiliano posted an 80, eight over par, to tie for 27th place. Max Hampoian of Austin Prep had the best score with a three-under-par 69.
The Nauset golf team had a strong season with an overall record of 14-4. Martin qualified to participate in the New England High School Championship, to be held on Monday, Nov. 1, at Mohegan Sun.
