The Outer Cape is teeming with pop-ups this fall. Pop ups don’t typically post their hours because that would take the fun out of guessing when to go where. In our experience, they’re rarely open for business before 11 a.m., except those that feature caffeine, nicotine, and bird watching.
Please enjoy our fall guide!
What: Rusty’s Pop-Up Dry Cleaner
Where: The Dog Park, P’town
Why: Some Outer Cape community members have quit loungewear this season and are donning outfits that have buttons and other closures. Rusty’s Pop-Up Dry Cleaner read the room and is at your service. Rusty’s asks that you keep extremely hairy dogs away from the pickup counter, but average shedders are welcome to join their humans along with their garments. Dry-cleaned garments will likely be returned to the same location, but there could be an alternate and possibly more exclusive pop up, so keep your eyes open and ears peeled.
What: J’s Tech Assist for Seniors Pop-Up, offering technical support for elders
Where: Our intrepid reporter’s side yard at 265½ Willow Way, Eastham (please don’t block #265’s driveway, and please don’t feed #264’s basset hound)
Why: Do you not know how to text a photo of your new couch from your iPhone to your sister in Cincinnati without emailing said photo to your daughter in Madrid first to ask her how it’s done? Do you want to binge-watch Downton Abbey and The West Wing but don’t know how to turn on your television? If you answered “yes” to either of the questions above, then this pop up is for you. Bring all your devices and gadgets and a pen and paper to take notes on the solutions. J’s Tech Assist for Seniors kindly requests that you bring a beach chair in anticipation of a line.
What: The Gap Pop-Up Sweater Station
Where: The Town Green, Truro
Why: Going over the bridge or even past the Orleans rotary is very 2019. The Gap knows this, and that’s why the company has touched down in Truro. Expect a variety of autumnal sweater colors in a smattering of styles — cotton crewnecks, wool V-necks — and an assortment of cashmere.
What: U.S.P.S. Pop-Up
Where: The post office, Wellfleet
Why: The Postal Service has taken a hit this year, but it refuses to stop serving the public efficiently. We are all here for this rebranding. At the U.S.P.S. Pop-Up, customers can purchase stamps, mailers, and send and receive mail and packages.
