EASTHAM — The Nauset Regional High School soccer teams haven’t missed a beat so far this season. The varsity boys outscored their opponents 14-2 in their first four games, with a record of three wins and one tie. The Sandwich Blue Knights gave the Warriors all the team could handle on Sept. 14 en route to a 1-1 final score.
Meanwhile, the varsity girls are currently 5-0. The team beat Sturgis West 4-1 on Saturday, Sept. 18, then eked out a 1-0 win over the Falmouth Clippers on Monday.
That game was 0-0 most of the way, even though Nauset controlled the ball for much of the time and outshot Falmouth 8-2 in the first half.
In the 12th minute of the second half, a penalty was called on the Clippers while Nauset was inside the box. That led to a penalty kick, and sophomore Caroline Kennard found the back of the net for the only goal of the game. The Warriors’ defense kept Falmouth out of scoring position the rest of the way as the team held on for its fifth straight win.
