Giligilao “Gili” Peregrine Portnoy was born on May 5, 2020 to Galiguy “Akay” Inariki Yan of the Taromak Rukai tribe of Taiwan and Caleb Portnoy of Wellfleet. Gili’s grandparents are Deirdre and John Portnoy of Wellfleet. While in utero, Gili spent time in Timor-Leste, Indonesia, Singapore, and Washington, D.C., where he was born. Akay, Caleb, and Gili made it home to Wellfleet soon after the birth.
