The number of babies born to Eastham residents in 2019 was up compared to the last couple of years, while Wellfleet recorded fewer births than in recent years. But overall the statistics on Outer Cape births in the last year don’t reveal any significant trend. The average number of total births in the four towns has been 62 over the past seven years; last year’s total was 60.
Provincetown Town Clerk Darlene Van Alstyne reported the first 2020 baby on record on the Outer Cape, Mila Fae Davies, born on Jan. 8, as we reported last week. Wellfleet’s first baby of 2020, Charles Dylan Emmons, was born on Jan. 10 at Cape Cod Hospital at 10:51 a.m. to parents Nina Picariello and Alexander Emmons. Nina teaches first grade at Truro Central School and Alexander is a carpenter. Charles joins his brother, Jack, age three.
