Cape Cod Commission
Provincetown Representative – call for nominees
The Provincetown Select Board is seeking applicants for nomination as the Town of Provincetown’s representative to the Cape Cod Commission. The Cape Cod Commission was created in 1990 by an Act of the Massachusetts General Court to protect the region’s unique natural, coastal, historical, cultural, and other values. All members are citizen volunteers who receive and evaluate information from the agency’s professional staff, consider policies to guide the agency’s activities, and make regulatory decisions about development proposals under the agency’s jurisdiction. The board generally meets every other Thursday afternoon in Barnstable.
Cape Cod Commission members serve in several different roles.
- They are representatives of and liaisons to the 15 Cape Towns and Barnstable County residents
- They are regional policy makers in issue areas such as land use, transportation, and affordable housing.
- They are quasi-judicial board members regulating development proposals.
Applications can be obtained online.

Provincetown Harbor Committee
March 16, 2022
The Provincetown Harbor Committee will hold a Public Hearing on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at 5:00 P.M. in the Caucus Hall at Town Hall, 260 Commercial Street, Provincetown, MA 02657.
April Town Meeting Article: General Bylaw Amendment, Chapter 6-10 – Creation of a Revolving Fund Account: Boat Removal Reserve Fund
The Provincetown Harbor Committee is proposing a General Bylaw Amendment to create a revolving fund to provide a contingency fund to deal with vessel cleanup when any vessel presents an immediate danger or risk to our harbor’s natural or economic resources. This fund would enhance the town’s ability to prevent a long costly delay in keeping our harbor safe for shell fishing, tourists walking the jetty and our beaches, and for those navigating in our harbor. Authority to use funds in the Boat Removal Reserve Fund would rest with the Town Manager and Harbormaster.
Request to Establish an Additional Mooring Fee: Boat Removal Reserve Fee
The Provincetown Harbor Committee is recommending a $10.00 contingency fee be added to the current Provincetown Harbor Regulations Appendix A, Mooring Permits and Rental Moorings fee schedules. All contingency fees collected would be deposited into a Boat Removal Reserve Fund.
Comments thereon may be submitted in writing to the Provincetown Harbor Committee, Provincetown Town Hall, 260 Commercial Street, Provincetown, MA 02657 or in person at the hearing.
