‘Sounds of Siberia’ in Wellfleet
Sample an earful of Siberian music, performed with a khomus (a kind of Jew’s harp) by Yuliyana Krivoshapkina, along with the Tuvan throat vocals of Aidyn Byrtaan-ool, at Wellfleet Preservation Hall at 335 Main St. on Saturday, Jan. 4, at 7 p.m.
The show, entitled “Sounds of Siberia,” is presented by Payomet Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $15-$20 at payomet.org.
Documentary Regarding Susan Sontag at Waters Edge
The Provincetown Film Art Series will present the documentary Regarding Susan Sontag, which deals frankly with Sontag’s literary legacy and repressed lesbian identity, on Wednesday, Jan. 8, at 7 p.m. at the Waters Edge Cinema at 237 Commercial St., on the 2nd floor of Whaler’s Wharf in Provincetown. Filmmaker Nancy Kates will attend, and the film will be introduced by Independent arts editor Howard Karren, who will lead a discussion following the screening. Tickets are $12-$8, or free with series pass.
