Animation Shorts at Preservation Hall
The newest edition of animated shorts from around the world, The 21st Annual Animation Show of Shows, will screen at Wellfleet Preservation Hall at 335 Main St. on Saturday, Dec. 14, at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.; Sunday, Dec. 15, at 2 p.m.; and Saturday, Dec. 21, at 2 p.m. Admission is $12 ($8 for kids) in advance at wellfleetpreservationhall.org, or at the door for $13 or $9.
The entire show runs 90 minutes and includes the following: “Kids” (Switzerland); “Rubicon” and “Portrait of Gil Alkabetz,” director of “Rubicon” (Germany); “Airship of Unknown Direction” (Russia); “Five Minutes to Sea” (Russia); “Récit de Soi” (“Self-narrative,” Belgium); “Le Jour Extraordinaire” (“Flowing Through Wonder,” France); “Hounds” and “Portrait of Amit Cohen and Ido Shapira,” directors of “Hounds” (Israel); “The Fox and the Bird” (Switzerland); and “Daughter” (Czech Republic). In the past, many of the short films have gone on to win Academy Awards.

Ellen LeBow Drawings at Wellfleet COA
A show of artwork by Ellen LeBow, “The Tree, the Hawk, the Crow, the Lily, the Girl,” featuring ink drawings on clayboard, and pencil, pen, or charcoal Wellfleet portraits on paper, will have an opening reception on Sunday, Dec. 15, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Wellfleet Council on Aging’s Great Pond Gallery at 715 Old King’s Highway.
The exhibit will be on view through Jan. 6. The COA is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays only.
Kristen Becker Is Foul-Mouthed Sandy Claus
Comedian Kristen Becker plays Santa’s older, gayer, drunker sister, Sandy Claus, in a special concoction called “Out of the Claus-et,” on Friday-Saturday, Dec. 13-14, at 7:30 p.m. at Provincetown Brewing Co. at 141 Bradford St. Darlene Van Alstyne co-stars. Snowpiercer Screens at Film Art Series
The 2013 visionary dystopian film Snowpiercer, directed by Korean auteur Bong Joon Ho, will screen at the Provincetown Film Art Series on Wednesday, Dec. 18, at 7 p.m. at Waters Edge Cinema at 237 Commercial St. at Whaler’s Wharf, 2nd floor. Admission is $12, $8, or by series pass.
The film, which is in English, is about the last survivors on Earth, trapped on a fast-moving train that can never stop. It stars Chris Evans, Ed Harris, Tilda Swinton, Octavia Spencer, John Hurt, and Jamie Bell, and will be introduced by Independent arts editor Howard Karren, who will lead a discussion afterward.
