The Sun is in Virgo, and the harvest season is nigh. Virgo herself, in depictions of the constellation, wields a bundle of ripe wheat — a salient contradiction, since Virgo is Latin for virgin, of course, and wheat that is ripe is anything but.
This symbolism presents the ceaseless conundrum of life’s moment-to-moment self-making, in which the past falls away and the future arises, fresh and untouched. Cultivating such a sensibility in our own minds, especially as the summer gives way to autumn, will keep us centered in that never-ending flow.
The Virgo mindset seeks value and order in these processes, and happily strips away the chaff to reveal the fruitful germ that is then sublimated into substance and sustenance. Virgo or not, you may notice your thoughts shifting in this way.
Can you also let yourself be absorbed, then, in the selflessness of here and now without any desire for results or goals? These eventually manifest themselves, if you can allow an intentional sort of spontaneity — that is, intending to be spontaneous might just allow a flow state to arise.
