Administrative Assistant
Theresa Townsend
Retires
The Wellfleet Fire Department proudly announces the retirement of Administrative Assistant Theresa Townsend, who officially retired on July 9th, 2025. Theresa’s remarkable career began in 1991 when she joined the department as a Firefighter/EMT. Just two years later, she took on the additional role of full-time Administrative Assistant, a position she held with honor, commitment, and unwavering dedication for 34 years.
Theresa served the department and the community with integrity, working tirelessly in both roles—32 years as a firefighter and 34 years in administration. She has been a true anchor of the department, known for being the go-to person whenever anyone had a question or needed guidance. Over the course of her career, she worked alongside five Fire Chiefs, supporting every aspect of the department’s administration and contributing immensely to its success and stability.
Theresa now looks forward to enjoying retirement and spending quality time with her family, especially her beloved Little Paul.
On behalf of the entire department and community, we thank you, Theresa, for your decades of service, loyalty, and friendship. You will be deeply missed, and your legacy will remain a part of the Wellfleet Fire Department forever.
Congratulations and best wishes for a well-earned retirement!
