Carol Ann (Grimaldi) Nickerson of Truro died on May 18, 2025 at 85. She lived in Truro for more than 50 years and was the town’s administrative secretary for 23 years, including a stint as interim town administrator.

Carol Ann was born in Springfield on April 29, 1940 to the late Helen Fressola and Antonio Grimaldi. She lived in Europe for almost eight years as a young woman, when her then-husband Frank Antal was stationed at military bases in West Germany. The couple took their children on trips to Austria and Switzerland to broaden their experience of the world.
Carol Ann worked during those overseas years in the public relations department of Daimler-Benz in Stuttgart. She developed tours to areas on both sides of the Iron Curtain to help American military personnel better understand the continent. She was also a social director on American bases, helping to arrange gala parties, fashion shows, and other festivities.
After that time, Carol Ann settled on Cape Cod, living in Provincetown and then Truro. She was an avid golfer and played in the Thursday Ladies League at the Highland Links golf course with her friends. Although she had a high handicap, she was proud of her four holes-in-one.
Carol Ann served as chair of the Golf Course Advisory Committee, was a volunteer driver for the Cape Cod Volunteers, and gave her time at Cape Cod Hospital and the Truro Public Library. She was also a member of the Provincetown Nautilus Club.
She loved to get together with her friends for birthdays or just lunch. She was an animal rights activist and supported many organizations that aid animals. She also enjoyed gardening and was a voracious reader who always had a book in her hand.
Carol Ann is survived by her daughter, Joan Antal, and husband Alan Feltham of Hyannis; her sister-in-law, Linda Grimaldi, of Meriden, Conn.; her aunt, Beth Haluszka of Maine; and her stepchildren, Christopher Nickerson and wife Cindy of Maine, Dean Nickerson and wife Suzanne of Truro, Rebecca Nickerson of Truro, Lindsy Nickerson of Truro, and Rick Nickerson and Karen of Maine.
She is also survived by granddaughters Jessica Nickerson of Maine and Shyloe Neizman of Washington and Hawaii and by many great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Richard “Nick” Nickerson, by her daughters Kimberly Antal, Nancy Antal, and Michelle Antal, and by her brother Alfred Grimaldi.
