Ad Hoc Redux
The terms of all five members plus one alternate on the Ad Hoc Building Committee are set to expire on June 30. Every seat will be up for reappointment, although members who have been serving are welcome to reapply, said select board chair Sue Areson. As for new applications, she says she has already received “at least a dozen.”
The committee’s charge is to suggest cost-saving options for the proposed new DPW facility.
Areson said the deadline to apply is Thursday, June 19. The select board will interview applicants on Tuesday, June 24. “We’re trying to appoint at least two members who have professional construction project management or architectural expertise,” said Areson.
The Ad Hoc Town Seal Committee is also seeking new members and particularly seeks artists or graphic designers interested in working with the committee to design a new town seal.
Chair Holly Gardner said that interested parties should “submit a brief proposal stating why they think they would be the right person for the project” along with examples of their work.
“An artist who does not have technical ability or a designer who does not have illustration capabilities might partner with another professional,” said Gardner, “and approach us together with a combined proposal of how they would work together to achieve the committee’s goals.”
The invitation is not an “open call for designs or artwork,” Gardner said.
To submit proposals or for more information, designers and artists should contact Gardner by way of the Ad Hoc Town Seal page on the town website. —Dorothea Samaha
