Goodbyes
Town Manager Jacqui Beebe told the select board during its May 19 meeting that she had received several resignations that she “didn’t want to accept but had to.” Four members of committees stepped down, and three people in administrative jobs have been tapped for jobs in other towns.
Stephanie Sykes, the town’s foreman for natural resources, shellfish constable, and animal control officer, resigned after receiving an offer for the position of natural resources director in Harwich. She had held the position since May 2023.
Building Commissioner Justin Post, who started working in Eastham after three years as Wellfleet’s building inspector, is returning to Wellfleet as its building commissioner.
Maya Golding, who served as Eastham’s treasurer-collector, resigned earlier this month to take the same position in Orleans. According to Beebe’s report, Assistant Treasurer Cameron Scott will act as interim treasurer until a replacement is found.
Beverly Hobbs resigned from the Human Services Advisory Committee; Gary Senecal resigned from his position as alternate representative to the Cape Light Compact; Jarod Carey resigned from the zoning board of appeals; and Jacquelin O’Rourke resigned from the T-Time Committee, which she had served on since its creation in 2021.
Beebe lamented the resignations, specifically acknowledging Sykes’s “professionalism and enthusiasm for her job” in the town manager’s report and calling the resignation “a significant loss for the town.” —Parker Mumford
