Confirmed bird sightings on the Outer Cape in the week preceding the Independent’s deadline on Tuesday, May 20 included the following, based on a report prepared by Mass Audubon’s Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary.

One of those things we have to report from up Cape: The first Anhinga for the Cape and Islands was photographed at Pogorelc Sanctuary in Barnstable on Saturday.
A Kentucky Warbler was found in Foss Woods in Provincetown this week. And elsewhere, in someone’s yard, a Hooded Warbler.
Meanwhile, birds at Race Point in Provincetown this week included 2 Pacific Loons, a Harlequin Duck, a Black Guillemot, 1 Little Gull, 50 Bonaparte’s Gulls, 2 Lesser Black-Backed Gulls, 4 Black Terns, 880 Common Terns, a Sooty Shearwater, and 5 Manx Shearwaters.
A Chuck-Will’s-Widow and 2 Common Nighthawks were seen in Eastham.
