Conversation Starters
Acting Police Chief
After former Police Chief Jim Golden’s retirement on Feb. 28, Lieutenant Greg Hennick became the town’s acting police chief on March 1.
Applications for the police chief job were due on March 7, and the six-person search committee began reviewing them this week. The search committee will interview the candidates and choose finalists, who will then be interviewed by the town manager, assistant town manager, human resources director, and fire chief.
Town Manager Alex Morse will then appoint the police chief, and the select board will have 15 days to approve or reject the appointment.
The town had received four applications as of March 5, according to a memo from Morse to the select board.
Growing From Seed
Donna Cooper is teaching a class on growing flowers and vegetables from seed at the Provincetown library at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 20. Participants will learn how and when to start their seeds and receive a take-home information sheet; there will also be a limited supply of free seeds and containers to start them in.
Cooper’s gardening focus is on perennials and pollinators, but she is also the lead volunteer for the library’s “tower gardens” — vertical structures that grow vegetables for the town’s Crop Swap program.
