Harbormaster Update
Town Administrator Tom Guerino appointed marina advisory committee chair Joe Aberdale to lead the search for a new harbormaster and assistant harbormaster. The search committee also includes advisory committee member Doug Straus, interim Harbormaster Stuart Smith, and a representative from the police dept., Guerino said.
The committee has been interviewing candidates for both positions, which have been vacant since July. Guerino wrote in an email to the Independent that Smith would hire an assistant harbormaster with his approval. He said the search committee will provide a list of finalists, whom he will interview. There is no target date for hiring.
“The reason we are slowing this down is to be very deliberate in hiring,” Guerino said by email. “With Stuart down there on an interim basis, we can be much more deliberate in undertaking a thorough recruitment.” —Aden Choate
