Clark Is Deputy Fire Chief
Newly appointed Fire Chief Joseph Capello announced at the Sept. 10 select board meeting that Sean Clark will become the department’s next deputy chief.
Clark has been with the department since 1998, when he began as a call firefighter, but he really began his career “at 16 years old as a ski patrol in New Hampshire,” Capello said. That’s where he caught the emergency rescue bug.
Clark received his EMT license in 1997, and soon after joining the Wellfleet crew he began to climb in the ranks. He received his paramedic license in 2000 and was hired full-time two years later. After another two years, Clark became lieutenant. Clark’s rapid climb up the leadership ladder showed “a lot of hard work in a short amount of time,” Capello said.
Capello previously served as deputy chief before the select board appointed him fire chief following Richard Pauley’s retirement at the end of August.
The select board will hold a pinning ceremony for both Capello and Clark at its next meeting on Sept. 17, and a recognition ceremony for the entire department will be held at the fire station on Oct. 7 at 5:30 p.m. —Sam Pollak
