Get In on Budgeting
In his report in the Truro Talks newsletter published on Aug. 28, Town Manager Darrin Tangeman outlined the town’s budget approval process. It starts with the select board providing budget guidance for town departments and concludes with budget article voting at town meeting in the spring.
But in between, there are seven other steps, including reviews by the select board and its budget task force, town department heads, the finance committee, and the town manager.
As the select board starts to formulate that initial budget guidance this month, Tangeman wrote, “We are all striving to keep costs in check, but just as our constituents have rising service, utility, supply, labor, and construction costs, so too does the town.
“We encourage all residents to participate in this in-depth and transparent process so that your voice is heard,” Tangeman wrote. —Aden Choate
