To Vote Legally
To the editor:
It should be obvious that in order to vote legally in Truro you must be a resident of Truro, not a part-time resident. As a part-timer and homeowner for over 30 years in this place so close to my heart, I am embarrassed by the Truro Part-Time Resident Taxpayers Association and its entitled posturing.
The folks who live here all year, send their kids to the schools, and work in the businesses are fully committed to the town. They are entitled to make the decisions. It makes good sense to listen to the views of part-timers, many of whom have useful experience and wisdom. But disrupting meetings and shouting people down is infantile and counterproductive.

There Was More to the Solar Workshop
To the editor:
Re “They’re Getting Smart About Solar in Eastham,” Nov. 2, front page:
Your article about the solar workshop at the Eastham library on Oct. 28 didn’t mention the homeowner talk and solar home tours that followed the workshop. Participants were shown how to size their solar systems based on energy usage and the role and importance of energy storage in addition to the solar panels. During the tours they were able to ask homeowners specific questions about their systems one on one.
For some, that was the most productive and informative part of the workshop.

The Bombing of Gaza
To the editor:
In his Nov. 2 letter [page A3], Evan P. Provisor exonerates Netanyahu’s extremist government of the civilian deaths it has caused and chastises those of us who call for an unconditional ceasefire.
The deaths of Gazan civilians have not made Israel safer. The number of Gazan deaths approaches 10,000. The bombardment of Gaza since Oct. 7 has been an act of revenge, plain and simple. Fortunately, the International Criminal Court has a clearer sense of justice and is currently compiling evidence for a future war crimes tribunal.
Unlike Hamas’s attack, Israel’s retribution is happening with our tax dollars and our implicit approval. Kudos to Bolivia for cutting diplomatic ties with Israel and giving the Biden administration a lesson in standing up for human rights.

Joni Mitchell Is Not a Legume
To the editor:
I found the headline “A Warm Salad Stars the Joni Mitchell of Legumes” on Paul Sullivan’s ode to chickpeas last week [page B3] odd but intriguing. I began to read. All was well until I came upon these sentences: “It’s never going to be Madonna. But it has a certain folk charm to it. The chickpea is the Joni Mitchell of legumes.”
Excuse me?
Perhaps Mr. Sullivan is unaware of Ms. Mitchell’s extraordinary accomplishments over her nearly 60-year career. Never mind that according to Secondhandsongs.com Ms. Mitchell is the fourth most covered female songwriter of the past 123 years. She has recorded rock music, jazz music, folk music, and more. Her lyrics are poetry, and her guitar tunings are legendary. She is a five-star restaurant, not a cute folky legume.
Perhaps I am overreacting, given all the horrifying things in our world, but I do not think so. I will happily sit down to a chickpea dinner prepared by Mr. Sullivan as long as I control the scratching-the-surface four-hour Joni Mitchell soundtrack.

Choice Words
To the editor:
I just want to say how much I enjoyed Kai Potter’s “On the Landscape” column in the Oct. 26 issue [“Ruled by the Low Angle of Autumn’s Light,” page B1]. Potter’s choice of words and descriptive way of joining nature with human emotion was heartfelt.
