Lucille Kelley Roza of North Truro died on Dec. 28, 2022 after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was 87.
The daughter of Jack and Lucy Kelley, Lucille was born in Truro on Nov. 11, 1935. Affectionately known as “Sis,” she was raised in Truro and attended Provincetown High School.
As a high school student, she helped organize chicken pie suppers for her class and participated in the class minstrel show. According to her yearbook, her personal motto was “It is tranquil people who accomplish much,” and her hobby was art. She graduated in 1954.
After graduation, Sis moved to Boston and worked for the John Hancock Insurance Company before returning to Truro. Back home, she was introduced by her sisters to Edward Roza. She settled into life as a homemaker and as a bookkeeper for Eddie’s construction business. Sis and Eddie were married for 47 years until his death in 2013.
Sis loved taking care of Eddie and the home they built in North Truro. She was an expert seamstress, an expression of her lifelong interest in art. “She was great with colors and fabric,” her niece Sheila Kelley said. “She could look at a picture in a magazine and reproduce the outfit exactly.”
Known for her hospitality, Sis loved to cook; no one ever left her house hungry.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Ann Kelley; her nieces, Peggy Dahill and Sheila Kelley; and a great-nephew, T.K. Dahill.
Sis was predeceased by her husband, her brother, Jack Kelley, and her sister, Nancy Boire.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Wellfleet at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 22.
