Conversation Starters
There Is Such a Thing
All summer long, the Truro Public Library will offer free lunches for kids every Thursday and Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., according to trurolibrary.org. The program requires no registration, so children can drop in. It is open to anyone under age 18.
The lunches are provided through Food 4 Kids, part of the federally funded USDA Summer Food Service Program. Anyone interested in volunteering can sign up for a slot either helping to prepare or delivering the lunches. The lunches are prepared and packaged at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Orleans. Library Pop Ups and Parties
The library will have a pop-up stand at the Truro Farmer’s Market all summer. It offers an array of books, a craft nook, and the services of a friendly librarian. At the stand, patrons can borrow and return books and register for a library card. The market is on Mondays from 8 a.m. to noon in the green space at 20 Truro Center Road.
This Saturday, June 25, at 10 a.m., the library is hosting a “summer reading blast-off party” to kick off a summer of bookish adventures. The theme this summer is “An Ocean of Possibilities.” Participant children receive a raffle ticket for every hour of reading logged on their “sticker log” and can win prizes. —Nora Markey
