Confirmed bird sightings on the Outer Cape in the week preceding the Independent’s deadline on Tuesday, May 31 included the following, based on a report prepared by Mass Audubon’s Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary.
A Franklin’s Gull was at Race Point in Provincetown on May 28. Other sightings there this week included a Parasitic Jaeger, 14 Roseate Terns, 1,300 Common Terns, an Arctic Tern, 2 Sooty Shearwaters, and a Manx Shearwater.
a Wilson’s Storm-Petrel was sighted off Truro.
A single Little Blue Heron was seen in Wellfleet. And Sandhill Cranes were reported in a few places, including flying along Marconi Beach.
People in Eastham were watching lupines instead of birds this week.
