HOME SAFE
The F/V Angela & Mary III foundered around 10 a.m. on May 17 with four crew aboard. The men were able to make a Mayday call and climb into a life raft before the 50-foot lobster boat rolled over five miles off Provincetown. Crew members waited about 40 minutes before being rescued by TowBoatUS and the U.S. Coast Guard. None of the crew members was injured. The Angela & Mary III was towed back to Provincetown Harbor upside down. The boat’s owner, Glenn Rorro of North Truro, could not be reached for comment before deadline. Lobstering opened on May 16. FANFARE
Trombonists from New Hampshire’s Granite Brass marching band were among those greeting the first ferry arrival of the season on May 16. Bay State Cruises arranged the fanfare as part of marking its 50th year of bringing passengers to Provincetown’s MacMillan Pier. Fares that first day were the same as they were on the ferry’s first trip from Boston to Provincetown in 1973: $5 each way. (Photo by Jamie Demetriou)
