For Reference, a New Librarian
Corey Farrenkopf, the new adult services and reference librarian and 13th-generation Cape Codder who was hired this January, got the chance to introduce himself at the April 9 board of library trustees meeting.
One of Farrenkopf’s first moves was to freshen up the library’s poetry collection with 50 new books, plus four additional books per month. He has organized a digital generative poetry workshop, the final session of which will run on April 26 at 6 p.m. For more information visit the library’s website.
The new librarian also started a seed library and said that 500 seed packets have already been “checked out.”
Farrenkopf and Library Director Melanie McKenzie have begun compiling a small video game collection for adults. “We have books and DVDs and graphic novels, but we don’t have video games, which are a big part of society,” Farrenkopf said. —Cam Blair
