Confirmed bird sightings on the Outer Cape in the week preceding the Independent’s deadline on Tuesday, Feb. 22 included the following, based on a report prepared by Mass Audubon’s Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary.
Birds sighted at Race Point in Provincetown this week included 2 Pacific Loons, 2 Dovekies, 18 Common Murres, 1 Thick-Billed Murre, a Black Guillemot, 1,370 Razorbills, 35 Iceland Gulls, a Glaucous Gull, a Lesser Black-Backed Gull, and 2 Snowy Owls. There were also 3 Thick-Billed Murres in Provincetown Harbor.
2 Chipping Sparrows were seen in Truro.
Marsh Wrens — we don’t have numbers on these — were seen in Eastham and Wellfleet.
There was a Eurasian Green-Winged Teal in Eastham.
