Mask Up
Effective Tuesday, Dec. 21, the Truro Board of Health instituted a mask order for businesses and public buildings in town. “Wearing a mask is not a substitute for maintaining six feet of physical distancing,” the order states, stressing the importance of pairing face coverings with physical distancing.
This rule applies to those ages two and up, and it stays in place until rescinded by the board of health, which will re-evaluate the policy on Jan 25.
Violators will get a written warning for a first offense. The second offense comes with a $100 penalty, the third carries a $200 fine, and folks who manage a fourth strike will be fined $300.
Between Dec. 4 and Dec. 11, Truro’s positivity rate for Covid-19 tests was 4.72 percent, while Barnstable County’s was 7.76 percent. —Jasmine Lu
