The Eastham police have received 25 reports of property missing from their cars since Nov. 1. In all cases, the autos were unlocked. According to Police Chief Adam Bohannon, the thefts have mostly taken place during weekends on the west side of Eastham.
In October, two juveniles were charged with multiple counts of breaking and entering to motor vehicles at Orleans District Court. However, the thefts continue.
Bohannon said Monday that “significant progress” had been made, but that he could not elaborate further because the investigation was ongoing.
Staffing Update
Eastham’s full-time housing coordinator began work on Dec. 1. Rachel Butler previously worked at Community Housing Resource Inc. in Provincetown, where she was the property manager for 89 affordable housing units.
The town is currently interviewing candidates for deputy fire chief. Former Deputy Chief Dan Keane was promoted to chief following the retirement of Kent Farrenkopf last month. According to Town Administrator Jacqui Beebe, the process should be completed in a few weeks. —Cam Blair
