Town Boosters
The board of health no longer requires customers and staff to wear masks indoors at Truro businesses, though it is still recommended, Health Agent Emily Beebe told the select board on Sept. 28.
Masks are still required, however, indoors at town-owned buildings and when using public transportation, she added.
Beebe explained that the Pfizer booster shots to supplement the Covid-19 vaccine are now available at local pharmacies to people over 65 and to people 18 to 64 with underlying medical conditions. Employees who work in settings with increased risk of Covid-19 are also eligible. This includes front-line health-care workers employed at hospitals, nursing homes, and health clinics.
To find out where to get a shot, go to vaxfinder.mass.gov and fill in your zip code. A list of pharmacies will pop up. Only the Pfizer vaccine is available, while the boosters made for the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines are still awaiting approval from the FDA, Beebe said.
And don’t forget, it is flu season. Truro will host a flu clinic for town residents at the Community Center on Oct. 15 from 9 to 11 a.m.
The town is about a month away from offering meetings in person again, said Town Manager Darrin Tangeman. Board and committee meetings have all been virtual since the pandemic began. But equipment is now being set up to offer a hybrid approach, so people can come in person or participate online. —K.C. Myers
