Confirmed bird sightings on the Outer Cape in the week preceding the Independent’s deadline on Tuesday, Sept. 21 included the following, based on a report prepared by Mass Audubon’s Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary.
A Lark Sparrow was spotted at Race Point Beach in Provincetown on Saturday, where other sightings included a Baird’s Sandpiper and a Leach’s Storm-Petrel.
Birds seen at Coast Guard Beach in Eastham included an American Golden-Plover, 2 Western Sandpipers, 14 Lesser Black-Backed Gulls, a Pomarine Jaeger, 6 Parasitic Jaegers, a Long-Tailed Jaeger, a Leach’s Storm-Petrel, and a Glossy Ibis.
A Black Skimmer was reported from North Truro.
Birdwatchers were apparently on strike in Wellfleet.
