Welcome Home, Mary Heaton Vorse

The Provincetown Public Art Foundation presents “Mary Heaton Comes Home at Last,” a public unveiling for the portrait of Mary Heaton Vorse commissioned from renowned sculptor Penelope Jencks. It will be held on the grounds of the Vorse House, 466 Commercial St. in Provincetown, on Friday, Aug. 13, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Proceeds from the event will go to fund the final lifesize bronze. Christine McCarthy, CEO of the Provincetown Art Association and Museum, will introduce Jencks, who will then talk about her process and the challenges facing public portraiture. Artist Salvatore Del Deo, who knew Vorse, will share memories, with a Q&A to follow. Tickets are $100 at eventbrite.com.
