Mallory White’s Can-Do Attitude

Mallory White, a seasonal resident of Provincetown for the past 25 years, will be showing paintings at the Provincetown Commons, 46 Bradford St., through Aug. 21. The title of the show, “Because That’s What I Do,” is as pragmatic as the paintings themselves: sturdy genre paintings of still lifes, flowers, animals, and figures. They’re all laced with unbridled enthusiasm, but the work really takes off when White tempers it with deadpan humor. The Commons is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be a reception Saturday, Aug. 14, from 5 to 7 p.m.
