@heyfromptown asks: Sooo, I’m in my 20s, and it’s going to be forever until I’m, like, fully vaccinated. I heard young people are getting trounced by side effects because we have chiseled abs and jacked immune systems. Your thoughts?
@fauchi1986 answers: Side effects range from not being able to play your harp for 48 hours, to “Dude, did I actually receive a placebo?” If you have symptoms following your second dose, including but not limited to fever, chills, nausea, body aches, or pains in the head, call me. I’ll say, “You’re fine — you don’t actually have Covid.” My assistant will TikTok you my phone number.
@wondering asks: I’m a poet and live in Truro. I haven’t been indoors with more than three other people since 1997. I’m not elderly, yet. Should I get vaccinated?
@fauchi1986: Yes! No stress. Bless. Down vests. Full court press.
@libra123 asks: Which vaccine should I get?
@fauchi1986: Yes.
@edithandalbert asks: My husband has an appointment for the J & J vaccine at 4Cs next week. I recently received my second dose of Moderna up in Yarmouth. I’m feeling fortunate to be vaccinated, but if my husband and I didn’t receive the same brand vaccine, could that leave us both susceptible to multiple, yet different, variants?
@fauchi1986: Like you, I’m only a part-time epidemiologist, and I’d say this question is anything but answerable. Seems to me that you are overthinking, which is very 2020. It’s now 2021. Anyway, Dolly Parton and Michelle Obama are both vaccinated. They would say that the only path forward is for you to leave your husband and find a new one who also received the Moderna vaccine. Godspeed.
@thescotsman asks: Do I need to wear a mask on the golf course?
@fauchi1986: That depends on how bad a golfer you are.
@princesssummerfall asks: Will it be a busy tourism season on the Outer Cape this summer?
@fauchi1986: That depends on how often you leave your house.
@bobhere asks: This has been a hard year for me. I’m fairly isolated in Eastham, as the office went remote over a year ago. I’m truly ecstatic to have received my first dose of vaccine, and am wondering if it’s appropriate to bring the nurse who administers the second jab flowers and chocolate?
@fauchi1986: How thoughtful of you! It’s likely the nurse is allergic to pollen and gave up chocolate for Lent. I say it would be more appropriate to add that nurse’s name to the deed on your home.
@briochedoree asks: I live year-round in Wellfleet. I’m retired, but not yet 40. I’m independently wealthy, and don’t have any health problems — therefore, it’s not technically my turn to get vaccinated. But, in May, I head off to Rome for two weeks, then Paris to visit with my parents, followed by the Pyrenees for the remainder of the summer. I don’t want to bring any deadly germs with me to Europe. Should I cut the vaccine line?
@fauchi1986: Are you single?
