Bertha Louise Adams died peacefully in her sleep on Jan. 31, 2021 at Seashore Point Wellness Center in Provincetown, where she had been residing for the past year. She was 82.
She was a lifelong Provincetown resident, graduating from Provincetown High School in 1957.
In town, she worked at Gene’s Bakery, the beloved breakfast spot beside town hall owned by Gene Poyant, who was later town crier. In her retirement, Bertha’s favorite pastime was sitting in front of the town hall and gathering with her friends. With the help of her devoted son, Ernie, she was able to go there daily, when weather permitted.
She is survived by her daughter, Dot Adams of Wellfleet; by two sons, Ernie Adams of Provincetown and John Adams of Dennis Port; and by her granddaughter, Heather Beth Adams. She was predeceased by a daughter, Helen Mary, in 1968.
Because of the Covid pandemic, calling hours and a Funeral Mass will be held at a time when it is deemed safe to do so.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that pleasant memories of Bertha be shared with friends.
