Conversation Starters
Covid-19 Update
As of Jan. 19, Eastham had 13 new cases within the preceding 14 days and 65 total cases to date, according to the Mass. Dept. of Public Health weekly Covid-19 report. No Eastham Covid-19 deaths have been reported.
CodeRed
Town officials are encouraging residents to sign up for the CodeRed community notification program to get information on vaccination programs.
“CodeRed is going to be the vehicle that will get you the vaccine,” said Town Administrator Jacqui Beebe. “CodeRed is a vital communication tool in this vaccination program and people need to sign up for it. You can go to the police website and do that. It’s very easy.”
Links to the CodeRed sign-up page are also available on the home page of town’s website (eastham-ma.gov) and on the Town of Eastham Facebook page, noted select board chair Jamie Demetri.
“You register your cell phone, your email, home landline, and you receive a call, text, or email with vital information from the town,” Demetri said.
“We’re very careful about how we use it,” said Beebe. “If anything, we use it too little.”
Beebe added that CodeRed allows the town to make targeted announcements. “If power is out in one neighborhood,” she said, “we can isolate that and just do the calls that affect those property owners.”
It is possible to sign up others as long as you know their carrier, said Beebe.
