Covid-19 Update
As of Oct. 27, Truro had one active case of Covid-19, 16 cases that are considered recovered, and no deaths.
Water Everywhere, But Fewer Drinking
Covid-19 has dampened the tourist season, according to water use data presented Oct. 26 by Provincetown Water Supt. Cody Salisbury to the Provincetown and Truro select boards. The towns share public water wells.
Water withdrawals are down this year due to the pandemic, according to the water department’s presentation. Use was down 17 percent in April, 24 percent in May, and 13 percent in June.
Overall “billable” metered gallons were reduced by 11 million gallons since April, which represents a loss of $200,000 to $250,000.
But the water department has a surplus of approximately $2 million, which will offset the budget deficit, Salisbury stated in his presentation.
Adult Education Lives on Zoom
You can learn to “Focus on the Brighter Side of Life,” “Face Uncertainty,” or how to draw your cat or dog, or study osteoporosis, take fitness classes, learn Spanish, and more through Truro’s Community Education program. Sure, it’s online via Zoom this year, but it’s still happening. Most classes begin Nov. 2.
